wall2wall Virtual Jazz Festival 2020
Catch-up All The Videos
Revisit the 2020 Festival
Due to the pandemic, the 2020 wall2wall Jazz festival was a virtual event. Filming was completed over the summer months and the resulting videos streamed in the autumn.
As well as the brilliant music, each video has its own theme – including remembering Charlie Parker and Peggy Lee @ 100.
As part of the wall2wall Jazz Festival 2021 (streamed from November) – we are pleased to present this catch-up programme of seven videos from the 2020 festival.
There is a single password that gives access to all of the videos and this will be printed on the ticket sent to you.
These can be watched at your leisure and as often as you want and will be available until the end of February 2022.
Watch the short 2020 wall2wall promo video via this link.
The catch-up programme, including all seven videos displayed on this page, are offered at one price of £25 (Friends of BMJ – £15)
We hope you will enjoy the videos.
All proceeds will go to the club and its festival – all support is very much appreciated.
The Claire Roberts Trio – Carmen McCrae Sings Monk
Violinist and vocalist Claire Roberts trained classically in Manchester, before branching out into bluegrass, Western Swing and improvised fiddle style. She now performs with renowned Western Swing band The Swing Commanders.
In this video, Claire ventures into the bebop vocal style of one of her biggest inspirations, Carmen McRae – a singer brave enough to tackle the music of Thelonious Monk.
Carmen’s iconic phrasing and storytelling is re-imagined in a stripped back performance, in which she is joined by Grant Russell on bass and George King on piano.
