SUPPORTING QUALITY LIVE MUSIC IN ABERGAVENNY
Playing music composed by and inspired by the great Duke Ellington, this talented Welsh Quartet will ‘light up’ the intimate surroundings of the Melville Theatre.
- Gareth Roberts – trombone
- Tom Berge – piano
- Erika Lyons – double bass
- Mark O’Connor – drums
As well as running his own band, Gareth has played in numerous other bands. He has become a highly respected teacher of jazz trombone at the Royal Welsh College Of Music and Drama and has contributed much as musical director of Monmouth Big Band.
Tom Berge’s versatility and creativity as a pianist establishes him as one of the most exciting, up and coming players in the UK. He describes his style as bringing originality while still being firmly rooted in the swing tradition.
Erika Lyons is also a regular on the Abergavenny Jazz scene and is one of the best known bass players in South Wales, with a career that has seen her performing in the best venues in London and around the UK.
Top drummer Mark O’Connor is another very familiar face on the Wales jazz scene, with a widely embracing playing career that also includes tutoring at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and being one of the leaders of the widely acclaimed Wonderbrass.
