Since 1990, Samba Galêz has been thrilling audiences at parades, festivals, clubs and major events in Wales and beyond – and it is still pushing the boundaries of Latin percussion, earning recognition as one of the top bands of our kind in the UK.
Despite being a widely regarded Samba band, they are equally adept at other Brazilian, Cuban and African rhythmic forms as well.
The band’s repertoire includes Samba Reggae and Maracatu from Brazil; Conga and 6/8 rhythms from Cuba and the Caribbean.
Weather permitting, the band will start in St John’s Square at about 12 noon and over the next hour or so make its way to the Market Hall. If it tips down, then the Market Hall will be the start and finish posts.
It promises to be a great way of starting the afternoon’s free-access programme of great music, good food and a bar at the festival’s Jazz Alley in the Market Hall – fun for all the family.
