Matt Ratcliffe is an accomplished pianist and composer, who draws inspiration from past improvisers such as the likes of Thelonious Monk and the Canadian pianist Paul Bley.  Often leading his own projects, he also performs with many of the best players on the UK contemporary jazz scene.

For this wall2wall appearance, his Trio perform their more recent project – The Beatles Songbook.  They are joined by singer-songwriter Helen Gayle, bringing vocal influences that weld jazz, soul and blues – adding an extra dimension that completes a fresh take on this timeless music.

They will be exploring some of the interesting takes on the music of the Fab Four and bringing their own exciting arrangements.

Be prepared to journey through time, reflect on the songwriting talents of Lennon and McCartney and enjoy jazz improvisation at its best.
